Dive watches are highly practical timepieces. The purpose of them is fairly self-explanatory — they’re meant to monitor how long a driver has been underwater, and more importantly, how much air he has left in his tank.
Of course, the majority of men who wear them aren’t nearly so ambitious in their aquatic adventures. Instead, the style’s a popular choice for its high-preforming, utilitarian design and rugged good looks. Typically, they're larger in size, feature a rotating bezel, and rest on a metal bracelet or rubber strap.
To qualify as a dive watch, one must also have a water resistance of at least 100 meters, though high-end models can go much, much deeper than that. All in all, they're durable pieces that should last you a long while.
Below, Insider Picks compiled 18 models we think’ll look great on a wrist. If you want to shop for watches by price instead of by style, we also have guides for watches under $300, under $500, and under $1,000.
